Since there was a question: It is allowed to bring up to 200 Cigarettes to most of the Countries of EU from outside the EU. It is not allowed to bring more than 25 Cigarettes with you, when you are travelling within EU. You still may smoke in selected EU countries like in 1972 but some of the former most smoking friendly countries changed laws recently becoming very restrictive. For example Italy. But since we are in EU and not USA it is no problem to take your alcoholic beverage outside on the street – it surely looks better in a cafe-garden than directly on the pathway, but it is allowed. You are not forced to smoke and drink in a backyard as i learned in California. But it is not a good idea to smoke in a restaurant or bar, which ist prohibiting it, since mostly the owner of the restaurant or bar gets fined – not you. This is the point where it can get nasty. Also check cigarette prices: in the UK a pack of brand cigarettes is about 8-9 EUR, in France about 5 EUR in Germany and Austria about 3,50-4 EUR. The new EU countries Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic sell cigarettes for about 1,50 to 3 EUR a pack. And do not forget: not all european countries are EU-countries…
