Most bars and restaurants allow smoking. In hotels smoke only in rooms and designated areas. I went to a disco in madrid last day and prohibition was not being respected. But, generally speaking, don,t try to smoke in indoor areas unless you see a sign allowing to smoke. Prohibitions are being respected after strong government campaigns.
Sorry, days of easy going spain are over !
Smoking is increasingly being socially frowned upon, but there are still many smokers.
